Who Am I to God?
Theme verse: "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." — Genesis 1:27
Objective
To help young people understand that their identity doesn't come from likes, grades, or what their peers think — but from the fact that they were created in the image of God.
Icebreaker
If you had to describe yourself in a social media bio using only 3 words, which ones would you pick? Why those?
Point 1: Made in the Image of God
Before you were born — before you had a profile, grades, or followers — you were already precious, because you were made in the image of God. That means your worth isn't something other people give you; it was already there from the very beginning.
Discussion question: Where have you been drawing your sense of worth from — from God, or from what others think of you?
Point 2: The Mirror You Use the Most
These days, the "mirror" most young people reach for is social media — likes, comments, follower counts. But that mirror distorts reality: it only shows what we want to show, and it measures us by standards that change every single day.
Discussion question: Do you think social media shows who you really are, or just an edited version of yourself?
Point 3: You Don't Have Anything to Prove
A lot of young people are worn out from trying to prove their worth — through grades, sports, appearance, you name it. But in Christ, you don't have to prove anything anymore; you are already accepted (Ephesians 1:6). That truth sets you free from the constant pressure of feeling like you need to be "enough."
Discussion question: In what area of your life do you feel the most pressure to "prove" your worth?
Point 4: A New Way of Seeing Yourself
When you start to see yourself the way God sees you — loved, chosen, and purposeful — it changes how you talk about yourself, how you respond to criticism, and how you treat other people. Your identity no longer rises and falls with your circumstances.
Discussion question: What would change about your week if you truly believed you were already enough in God's eyes?

This week, every time you feel the urge to compare yourself to someone on social media, stop and say out loud: "I was made in the image of God. That is enough."

Lord, help us to see ourselves the way You see us — not through likes, grades, or other people's opinions, but as beloved children, made in Your image. In Jesus' name, amen.
