Some See a Threat, Faith Sees an Opportunity
"What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine?" — 1 Samuel 17:26
The army of Israel and David were in the same valley. They heard the same voice. They saw the same giant, wearing the same armor and carrying the same spear.
Yet while some "fled from him and were greatly afraid" (v. 24), David asked a completely different question: "What does a man get for defeating this giant?"
This wasn't recklessness. David knew exactly how big Goliath was — just as well as everyone else. The difference was that the soldiers calculated a battle between a man and a giant, while David calculated a battle between a giant and the living God.
What stands out most is verse 25: the soldiers already knew about the reward. They were talking about it among themselves. They knew exactly what was at stake. And still, no one stepped out of line.
It's possible to know everything about what God can do — and still not move.
Maybe today you're standing in front of something that everyone around you has already written off as impossible. I'm not asking you to pretend it's small. I'm only asking you to ask the other question — David's question.
Not "how big is this?" — but "how big is my God?"
Your giant may be the very place God has chosen to show the world who He is.
